State Senate District 24 Candidate
My name is Josh Dyer, and I am a 6th generation Iowan. I grew up on an acreage north of the small town of Gowrie, Iowa in southern Webster County, and graduated from Prairie Valley High School. After high school, I graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in History and Political Science before also graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Secondary Education. While attending Iowa State I also met my amazing wife Emily. In the summer of 2018, Emily and I moved to our home in Jefferson. I have taught the last two years at the Glidden-Ralston Community School District teaching 7-12th graders History, Government, Economics, and more while also coaching junior high football.
Why I’m Running:
The reason I am running is the same reason I went into education, I want to make a difference, and serving in the legislature puts me in a position to do so. I grew up in rural Iowa and I care deeply about the future of rural Iowa’s communities. I want to do as much as I can to ensure they not only maintain but thrive for generations to come. I am Pro Life and I believe strongly in defending Iowans gun rights. I will take on the problems within education, healthcare, and Iowa’s infrastructure, all the while maintaining a balanced budget, without raising taxes on Iowans who are already stretched too thin. We need a young conservative perspective in the Iowa Senate to tackle the issues of our time, and I have the energy and the drive to get things done.
I appreciate the chance to share a bit about myself, and if you need anything further just let me know.
