Sheriff Andrew Godzicki (Andy) has proudly been a Boone County resident for over 24 years. He previously worked in the trades in both Illinois and Iowa as an Electrician, Industrial Tech, residential/commercial construction, and agricultural farming. Godzicki first entered law enforcement in 2003 when he became a Boone County Sheriff Reserve Deputy. In 2004 he became an Iowa certified jailer and worked part time for the Boone County Sheriffs Jail performing jail duties and prisoner transport. Godzicki entered the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in 2005. He was one of the first to pay his own way through the academy. Godzicki became an Iowa Certified Peace Officer. He worked part time for the Boone County Sheriffs Office as a deputy and for the Boone Police Department, as a part time police officer.
Godzicki was promoted to full time Boone County Sheriff’s Deputy in 2007. He spent several years as a road deputy, narcotics detective, and general crime detective. Godzicki has specialized training in narcotics investigations, sexual assault investigations, meth lab cleanup, vehicle contraband, interview and interrogation, cell phone forensics, FAA certified Commercial Drone Pilot, and other training. Notable projects Godzicki has done for Boone County was design and installation of the current 911 communication center, Boone County Sheriffs Office facility and Boone County Court house IP camera system, patrol vehicle computers, design, and installation of the Boone County Mobile Command center, Jail maintenance, and many more.
Godzicki was appointed the Boone County Sheriff on January 1, 2023, by the Boone County Board of Supervisors and was elected by the people of Boone County after he received the Republican nomination during a special election, which was held on March 21, 2023.
Sheriff Godzicki will remain humble and work hard for the Boone County Citizens. He believes in fiscal responsibility, holding both he and his staff accountable, fairness to all citizens, and upholding the constitutional rights of all people. In the workplace, Sheriff Godzicki supports employee wellness, family first, and professionalism through training. Sheriff Godzicki currently serves on the Boone County Emergency Management Board and the Boone County 911 Board.
Sheriff Godzicki is married to Trisha Godzicki (Linduski) of Ogden, IA. They have four children and reside in Boone. He remains dedicated to his family and to the public safety of Boone County. Sheriff Godzicki will work enthusiastically with all public safety entities both local and state, so we can all enjoy a safe, healthy, and prosperous life in all the Boone County communities that he serves.
